SALINAS, Calif. (February 26, 2015) – On February 26, 2015, at approximately 0200 hours, an inmate incarcerated at the Monterey County Jail was found unresponsive in his cell. Deputies immediately began life saving measures and notified on site professional medical services who also responded. Deputies and medical staff continued CPR and employed an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) during life saving measures.

American Medical Response and Salinas Fire were immediately summoned to the Jail and the Inmate was transported to the Natividad Medical Center where he was admitted.

Sheriff’s Office Detectives are currently assigned to the incident and the investigation continues.
