On March 23, 2016 at approximately 5:00 am the California Highway patrol asked for assistance with a stolen car located on Wild Horse Ct, Prunedale. Sheriff’s Deputies responded along with other CHP units to what turned out to be a possible chop shop.
The Sheriff’s Office and CHP officers assigned to the Multi Agency Detail Commercial Auto Theft (MADCAT) and the CHP’s Santa Cruz Auto theft Reduction and Enforcement (SCARE) team responded and located seven stolen vehicles.
A search warrant was issued which allowed the CHP and deputies to discover large amounts of evidence to indicate a large-scale Chop Shop was being operated.
Several animals located during the search to include dogs, horses, and other animals were handed over to the SPCA and Animal Control for care.
Two people have been arrested and the investigation into others continues.
