Halloween Can Be A Fun Time For Children & Parents
To insure you have a safe and happy Halloween, please practice these Halloween Safety Tips.
- Make sure your costume fits properly and is not too long. You don’t want to trip.
- If you wear a mask make sure the eyeholes are large enough to allow you to see.
- If your costume is not made of reflective material please ask your parents to put reflective strips on your costume or Halloween treat bag.
- Always go trick-or-treating with a grown-up.
- It will be dark when you go trick-or-treating so make sure to carry a flashlight.
- In all the excitement of the evening please don’t forget to be careful. Make sure to use the crosswalk when crossing the street and look both ways.
- Always trick-or treat in your own neighborhood, and only go to the homes of people you know.
- Remember the stranger danger rule: Never enter the home or car of a stranger or someone you do not know very well.
- When you return home have your parents check your treats before eating any.
- Welcome trick-or-treaters to your home by turning on any exterior or porch lights.
- Remove any objects from your yard that might present a hazard to visitors.
- Be extra careful when driving. Remember to slow down. And, please do not text while driving. You never know when a “ghost or goblin” may suddenly cross your path.
- Report any suspicious or criminal activity to your local law enforcement agency.
- Check all treats your children receive in a well-lighted area before letting them eat them. Throw away any fruit, homemade candy, opened candy or candy not in its original wrapper.
- If you put a candle in your jack-o-lantern keep it in an area away from where trick-or-treaters will be walking. You do not want a costume to ignite.
- A safer alternative would be to use one of the new battery operated tea lights that has a bulb “flame”.
- If you are walking with your children carry a flashlight.

- Tenga mucho cuidado al conducir. Recuerde manejar despacio. Por favor no textee mientras maneje. Usted nunca sabe cuando un “fantasma o un duende” puede cruzar repentinamente su camino.
- Denuncie cualquier actividad sospechosa o criminal a su agencia local de policía.
- Revise todos los dulces que sus niños reciban en un ·rea bien-alumbrada antes de dárselos para comérselos. Tire cualquier fruta, dulce hecho en casa, dulce abierto o dulce que no este en su envoltura original.
- Si usted pone una vela en su calabaza, asegúrese que no sea donde caminen los trick-or-treaters. Usted no quisiera que un traje se incienda.
- Una alternativa más segura sería utilizar una de las nuevas luces con pilas que tiene un foco estilo “llama”.
- Si usted esta caminando con sus niños lleve una lámpara de mano.
