The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Bureau proudly announces the graduation of the second session of “Parenting: During and After Prison”. The graduation will take place on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 1:30 PM. The graduates are all female Inmate students, eleven in total, that are housed in the Monterey County Jail. This course is an intensive, therapy based, 12 week program provided by the Corrections Program Manager, Mr. Charles DaSilva. In this course Inmate students are provided with critical parenting skills that are necessary to be a successful parent despite being incarcerated. This course also provides tools to maintain parental success upon the inmate’s release from custody.

Inmate students have remarked, “Mr. DaSilva provided the best atmosphere for this class and good resources.” Another Inmate student said, “This class should be mandatory.”

Additionally, the Programs Unit at the Monterey County Jail has implemented 11 new programs for inmates this year.

Congratulations to the Inmate student graduates! We wish them great success in their personal development.
