MCSO Internships

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to offer unpaid internship opportunities to students interested in exploring a career in the field of criminal justice.

The Enforcement Operations Bureau, Custody Operations Bureau, Administration, and the Coroner’s Unit have projects available that will enhance your ability to explore opportunities for diverse and rewarding career paths. There are both sworn and non-sworn, or professional positions within the Sheriff’s Office with career opportunities.

By participating in an internship program you will enhance your education and obtain first-hand knowledge of how laws are applied, how law enforcement organizations are administered and how personnel effectively work to serve the residents of Monterey County.

Should you choose to pursue a career in law enforcement, your internship experience will be helpful to you in the following ways:

  • Determine which classification is the right fit for you!
  • Give you first-hand knowledge as you go through the application and interview process.
  • Create a network of professionals to help you in your chosen field

The Sheriff’s Office is committed to giving back to the communities we serve. The Internship Program is one of the ways we can help serve and is structured to meet the needs of the intern.
