As a native of Monterey County I am honored to serve as your 31st Sheriff. Monterey County is over 3700 miles of diverse landscape and climate. From the Salad Bowl of the World to the Monterey Peninsula and the Big Sur Coast, we truly have a unique county. As Sheriff, I am responsible for coroner duties, maintaining the jail and providing quality law enforcement services to the unincorporated areas of Monterey County. Additionally, members of the Sheriff’s Office provide support to every incorporated city in the county.
With over 450 employees and over 90 volunteers, we stand ready to serve the citizens of Monterey County. We embrace our mission statement and hold true to the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics. We work collaboratively with all of our law enforcement partners to keep Monterey County safe. The Monterey County Jail faces many challenges. We continue to be innovative on how we treat and house inmates at the jail and our Programs Unit has successfully introduced new evidence based programing for inmate education.
As we move into the future, we encourage community participation through the many volunteer opportunities we provide. We also encourage public involvement through our website, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media outlets. We are always open to community input and will continue to connect not only through social media but through our regular town hall meetings.
I thank you for taking the time to browse our website and I hope you will continue to visit this website as well as our Facebook page. Law enforcement is a partnership with you, the citizens we serve.
