Monterey County Search and Rescue has conducted numerous rescue and recovery missions within the past week.

On 8-21-15, a hiker became lost and exhausted while hiking in the Los Padres Forest near Fort Hunter Liggett. Monterey County Search and Rescue coordinated with the California Highway Patrol air assets to rescue the hiker. The hiker was successfully rescued.

On 8-22-15, Monterey County Search and Rescue was paged out for the recovery of a deceased person at the bottom of a cliff. The Search and Rescue team conducted a cliff-side recovery operation. The deceased was recently report as a missing person from Sacramento, CA.

On 8-28-15, the Monterey County Search and Rescue team was deployed for a cliff-side body recovery. An adult female had climbed into a restricted cliff area and fallen into the ocean. The Search and Rescue team worked in conjunction with State Parks to affect the recovery of the woman’s body.

Also on 8-28-15, the Monterey County Search and Rescue team was deployed to rescue an injured hiker. A hiker on the Sobranes trail in the Garrapata State Park had suffered a severe ankle injury. The Monterey County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team worked in conjunction with State Park Rangers and CalFire to affect the rescue of the injured hiker. She was successfully brought to an ambulance and transported to a local hospital.

On 8-29-15, an adult male suffered an ankle injury while at the Gorge within Julia Pfeiffer State Park. The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office worked in conjunction with State Park Rangers and CalFire to bring the patient to the ambulance, where he was treated and released.

On 8-30-15, a hunter in the Los Padres National Forest suffered a knee injury. The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team was deployed and worked in conjunction with both the US Forest Service and the California Highway Patrol Air Assets to bring the patient to an ambulance. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
